In the 1970’s Galmi Hospital saw an increase !  At this point, it was decided that a new dedicated ward would be necessary, and the first Obstetrics Building was constructed and staffed with locally trained midwives.  The building consisted of a labor room, a delivery room, a nursery with 3 cribs, and a 7-bed post-partum recovery room.
