Today is World Book Day (an annual event organized by UNESCO to promote reading).  And since all of us here at Galmi Hospital believe in the written word, we thought we’d take this opportunity to suggest the most comprehensive book on the history of SIM’s work in Galmi, Niger.

A Family Living Under the Sahara Sun

Ruth Long, wife of Dr. Burt Long–Galmi’s first doctor–compiled personal stories and letters to complete this 600 page memoir.  In her book, she intwines the story of Galmi Hospital with that of her family as she details their experience as pioneer missionaries.
